Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel. (Socrates)
Faculty of Education and Humanities is the new faculty developed by UKDW this October 2019. For long, UKDW has been wishing to give contribution to this pluralistic world in the field of education and humanity. It was the Language Training Center (LTC UKDW) which made the English Language Education Department (ELED) into being. Starting its first academic year in 2016, the Department of English Language Education fulfilled half of UKDW’s dream. This new-but-B-accredited department has been striving for excellence in preparing future educators with Duta Wacana values as the messengers of God’s word.
At present, the new-born faculty is preparing a new department in humanities, actualizing the other half of UKDW’s dream, which is to contribute in educating Indonesian young minds to strengthen our nation’s identity and cultures in order that the more complex issues of humanity are better understood and tacled. Through both departments, Faculty of Education and Humanities are striving for kindling a flame of peace and hope for our pluralistic world.
Koordinatorat Mata Kuliah Humaniora (MKH) – Humanity Courses Coordinate, as another program in the faculty, develops UKDW students’ competence in the communities through cross-faculty humanity courses. MKH is now in a process of transforming itself into a humanity study program to give contribution in educating young generation about humanity issues and the solutions.
Through the two study programs, FKHum provides opportunities for students to spread peace and new hopes in this plurality world.
